Make sure that your BIOS is properly configured. You can do this by following this guideline:

If that doesn't work please take a look at your installation CD and read the date the CD was made (located on the inner clear portion of the CD). If it is before the date of the driver we have located on our site then please download the current driver. If the driver on our site is not labeled an upgrade then you will have to do a full install with the newly downloaded driver. Uninstall/Install instructions (uninstall for 9636T/P+ or 12000T) are available on our site as well.

If the problem persists then it is possible that you have a bad CCD or CIS. Please email a copy of an attempted scan to so that we may determine if it is a defective imaging device. Make sure you scan it at 75dpi with a JPEG interchange extension.
