Plustek Debuts World's First Parallel Port Flatbed Scanner
- Not satisfied with being the top sheetfed scanner designer manufacturer, Plustek exploded onto the color flatbed scanner scene in the Spring of 1996 with a breakthrough product, the OpticPro 4800P.
- The OpticPro 4800P eliminated the most frustrating drawback of flatbed scanners: the SCSI interface card. For the first time ever, users could simply plug the scanner into the computer's parallel port, then plug their printer into the scanner in daisy-chain fashion.
- The OpticPro 4800P offered other sophisticated features such as single-pass scanning, a cold-cathode lamp, and up to 4800 dpi of scanning resolution. The included OCR and image-editing software were also made easy to use with Plustek's exclusive 'Action Manager.' The Action Manager allowed the OpticPro 4800P to perform any number of scanning, copying, or faxing utilities at a touch of a button.
